After you apply

When we receive your application, we check it to make sure it has all the information we need. If there are any problems with your form, we will contact you although we cannot refund your application fee or premium for any reason and you cannot alter your mark after you have sent us your application form.

We capture your details onto our database. In 6 working days we send your filing receipt and application number:

  • by post for paper filed applications
  • by email for e-filed applications

Examining your mark

When the application is complete and the appropriate fee has been paid, it will be sent to an examination team who will examine your mark.

Options following an objection

Depending on the objection raised, you have a variety of options in dealing with the objection.

If you need more time to complete certain actions, you can apply for an Extension of Time.

What happens once my mark is accepted?

Once we have accepted your trade mark we will publish it in our weekly Trade Marks Journal and write to tell you the publication date and the number of that Journal.
