Selling your design
You are free to sell or transfer ownership of your registered design to someone else.
If you do, you must tell us so we can record the change in the register of designs. This includes any change of ownership as a result of company mergers. The legal term for a transfer of ownership is an assignment.
Fill in Form DF12A
To tell us you have sold your registered design you need to fill in
form DF12A
(37Kb). There
is no charge for this.
Form DF12A is not a replacement for the assignment, merely the form that you should use to ask us to record it.
You and the new owners or their representatives must sign the form. If any of them cannot do so, we will accept other documents as proof that the assignment has taken place.
