Trade marks ^TM10 project

In December, the Intellectual Property Office placed a Prior Indicative Notice (PIN) in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) in respect of a potential tender requirement for IT services to renew our Trade Marks Registry IT systems.

The official OJEU reference number for the PIN is as follows: 08/S 227-301892/EN.

We then held a supplier day for the purpose of market sounding and to enable the authority to describe in more detail our proposed requirements (information from the supplier day can be found below). Since then, we have held a number of discussions with the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM) , who register the Community Trade Mark in the European Union. OHIM has recently developed and implemented a new trade marks system, and have offered to provide us with the right to use the software application. We looked at the benefits of utilising their system and have now decided to proceed with this option.

We now need to conduct a procurement exercise to identify a supplier to adapt the system to meet our needs and possibly maintain the system at the Intellectual Property Office. Should you require any further information please contact Chris Mayers, Procurement Unit at procurement@ipo.gsi.gov.uk.
